Still Trying

Daryl remains in the hospital, even though we had hopes of his coming home today. On Wednesday he got a PICC line which is being used to provide nutrition via IV. I think this will be a tremendously positive thing for his overall recovery, providing the calories and nutrition that his body needs to heal itself.

But he is still struggling with nausea and vomiting, despite the fact that he's not eating any food to speak of. Just a few saltines, which have actually stayed down!

Anyway, we'll let you know when he is able to return home and/or when he starts to feel better. The Surgeon at Hopkins keeps calling this a "bump in the road." Feels more like a never-ending uphill climb to Daryl, but what can we do?? I told him that when he's well, we're having a BIG celebration and you are all invited!

  1. Amen to the big celebration idea! We'll bring the fireworks and streamers!!!! I am so glad you updated the blog because I was just about to call you! We'll keep praying and tell Daryl to keep on trusting. I know he has got to be getting tired (and you too!)

  2. I know it must be so difficult, but HANG IN THERE. Lord, please give understanding and insight to the medical team or just bring healing directly. Either way, we will give you the glory. You are a good God, who looks after His own. Look after Daryl and Wendy now in this time of great need!

  4. Still praying and trusting the Lord for Daryls full recovery. I know it is difficult but don't be discouraged. (Easier said than done, I know) Daryl wanted pictures to prove we actually had a turkey waiting for him. Tell him so far we cannot deliver. It must be an Amish turkey, it does not want its picture taken. But we do have a bald eagle and baby waiting to meet him so he has to get well soon and get up here before the baby flies the coop. That should give him a little incentive as if he needs any. Seriously, hope you get some rest and answers soon. Love you all. Elaine
